How long has your firm been in business? 55 years
What do you like to tell prospective clients about what your firm does best?
We believe in integrity, transparency, and doing whatever it takes to provide the best service possible for our clients.
What is an example of how you’ve collaborated with a NNRC partner to help out a client?
We recently had to have two reporters take a 20-minute crash course on an electronic exhibit sharing program to be used by one of the attorneys in a deposition running multiple days in DC. Our videographer also had to take a large TV monitor to display the exhibits to everyone around the table. The monitor and exhibit-sharing program were only used on one day for less than 30 minutes total.
What do you like best about your job?
After 41 years in the profession, all days are different which keeps things interesting. Enjoying the good days and knowing I’ll survive the bad ones.
How do your services make a difference for your clients or the legal system?
We find out exactly what services of the many we provide that our clients actually need, and then bend over backwards to make sure everything goes smoothly on the job so they don’t have to worry about anything.
When you aren’t working, how would you describe the perfect day for you?
A Saturday after a week when everything in the office was spinning like a top, all is going well with the family, weather is sunny, upper 70’s, slight breeze, I shoot a round of golf in the low 80’s, take an afternoon nap while watching a PGA tournament (which for me is like singing a lullaby to a baby), topped off with a great dinner and bottle of wine with my bride. That’s living the dream!
Who has most influenced you and how has he or she impacted your life?
In 1972, a junior in high school not knowing what I was going to study in college, at the suggestion of my parents I asked my Uncle Ray, an entrepreneur in his time, what I should do when I got out of high school. He told me to become a court reporter. After asking him what that was, he said I will go to school for a year and a half to learn how to write on a machine and make $15,000/year, which at that time was pretty awesome. In looking back on that moment, with all the training, keeping up with technology and everything that has transpired since that time, he could have said anything, even “plastics”, but he said court reporter.
