How long has your firm been in business? Since 1981
What do you like to tell prospective clients about what your firm does best?
We’re the best at handling tough assignments, like when someone calls at the last minute because they forgot to schedule a reporter or another reporter didn’t show up. We love to jump into action, get our reporter over to their depo ASAP, and save the day.
What is an example of how you’ve collaborated with a NNRC partner to help out a client?
One of our clients had a videotaped deposition in rural Oregon that they wanted to attend by videoconference. Rather than having us set it up for them, they contacted a local reporting firm near the witness’s home. The afternoon before the depo, our client found out that the location didn’t actually have videoconferencing or a videographer, so they called us. Our partners at Beovich Walter & Friend in Portland jumped into action and rushed a videographer with a mobile videoconferencing system out to the location so that our client could depose the witness from his office in Phoenix.
What do you like best about your job?
I love working with the most professional and talented people in our industry. Most of our staff and reporters have decades of experience, and they have really “seen it all.” They amaze me every day with their ability to solve problems and get the hard things done for our clients. The same can be said about our NNRC partners. They are all the most respected firms and most respected people in their areas, and I am proud to call them my partners.
How do your services make a difference for your clients or the legal system?
Our number one goal is to make our clients’ lives easier. My wife Cristina was a family law paralegal for 10 years, so we know how amazingly hard attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants work advocating for their clients. There’s no reason for them to worry about finding reporters in other cities or setting up videoconferences across the country when we can take that off their plates.
What kind of work did you do in your first job?
My first job was making balloon animals for kids at restaurants and birthday parties. My grandfather was a magician, and he was so it was a natural fit. My slogan for birthday parties was, “Need a party plan? Call the balloon man!” Really I was just a kid at the time, but “kid” didn’t rhyme!
What is a recent milestone for you or your family?
Last year Coash & Coash celebrated its 35th year serving the Phoenix legal community. I believe that makes us the oldest reporting firm in Arizona still under the same ownership. On January 1st of this year, I became President of the company, and Jerry Coash, Sr. became Chairman. My parents built the most respected reporting firm in Arizona, and I’m proud to take that firm into the future!
